This year, revolution church has reGIFTed part of their “GREATEST GIFT” offering back to the city. Each person in attendance on December 19th, 2010 was given an envelope containing $1, $5, $10, or $20. In addition, each envelope contained a card with instructions. The instructions were as follows:

  • You can’t spend the money on you or a family member.
  • It must be an unexpected act of kindness.
  • It’s important that you are creative.
  • Pray how you should use this money to bless someone, then don’t hesitate to show Christ’s love.
  • Use the money to Bless Someone before 12:00 noon Christmas Day.
And MOST important…

go… “BE” the church

We invited our friends and family to church today for the baby dedication, and one of our friends was going to have to back out because the church that is helping to back her missions trip to Africa, wanted her to be there. She decided that coming with us was important enough that she would take the risk of not going to the other church and possibly missing out on some additional financial support. Our group was all so moved that many of us just decided to donate our money to help her raise her funds for her trip! It wasn’t huge as far as money goes, but it was huge as far as a show of solidarity and love goes! This is such a wonderful way to show love to people! I love this idea.

I gave the gift to a former youth member that is going to Africa on a Missions Trip.
I believe this money will be used to further the Kingdom of God. Also to show the Love that God has for each of us to the people in Africa. :)

We went out to eat tonight to a local restaurant and through conversation got to know our waitress a little bit. She is a single mother to a two year old and recently divorced. She is finishing up a teaching degree and waiting tables in the mean time. When we left our tip, we left our reGIFT money and a little note. May she and every other recipient have a Merry (ier) Christmas! ;) Thank you Revolution church for providing a means to give and make a difference for someone else. May we all remember putting a smile on someone else’s face puts a smile on God’s…

What an awesome idea. I love the concept of regift. I was pumped all week in anticipation for the blessing God might let me experience by regift. I prayed about it Sunday night and God revealed to bless someone at Chic-fil-a. I went by the one in Dawsonville Monday but didn’t feel the leadership of God at that moment. Rather than go ahead and get it out of the way, I wanted to have full leadership from God on this. I had almost forgot about it until Wednesday. I was in McDonough and was looking for a drive-through to grab a quick bite. I was reminded of my obligation when I saw the Chic-fil-a sign. I used the regift money to help buy the ladies lunch behind me. I asked the lady in the drive-through to let the person know that God loves her. I don’t know who she is or what her situation is, but God does. Merry Christmas Revolution Church.

The regift money got me thinking about the many people I could bless and then I started wishing I had more for a particularly worthy cause… so I added a little to my regift cash and helped a family who have been having some tough times. What a blessing to give.
      Let the madness spread!

I’ve wrestled this idea down all week and finally had an epiphany today as I was wrapping up some last minute Christmas Shopping at Walmart . As I walked in the store, the nice gentleman that was standing outside ringing the bell for The Salvation Army was saying “Merry Christmas and God Bless you” to every person that walked by. There were droves of people entering and he was making a point to say hello to everyone. AS I walked out, he was doing the very same thing. No one was really acknowledging him but he didn’t care. Everyone got a smile and a greeting. It’s grueling to be that intentionally loving some times.
I left Walmart, grabbed my reGIFT money and went to Starbucks and picked him up a Venti Caramel Macchiato. I came back, gave it to him and told him”Jesus Loves you”, and dropped the change in the bucket. He teared up and gave me a hug.

I love Revolution Church, and LOVE that we as a family love to love others. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

My grandpa, who visited for the first time on Sunday and is not the most Internet-savvy person out there, asked me to post for him (and, in turn, for me as well). We’re regifting our money by making a small contribution to help my friends whose house just burned down. It’s not a lot, but it can maybe meet a small need to help in a tough situation.

I’m so glad that the church introduced this idea. There’s something about giving that gets us more in tune with the heart of God.

I was thrilled yet a little anxious and nervous when I opened up a 10 dollar bill @ Revolution Church this past Sunday. Today I finally decided to go to the homeless shelter that was created by a group of homeless with 2 Little Ceasars pizzas and a 2 liter Mountain Dew. It was such a blessing to me to hear someone with nothing at all say “God Bless you and Merry Christmas” to a young stranger like me. Seeing the place where so many call “home” touched me in a mighty way, thank you Revolution Church, and reGIFTthecity.com for such a life changing oppertunity, MERRY CHRISTMAS, HAPPY NEW YEAR, and GOD BLESS TO ALL!

My reGIFT was certainly spontaneous. I was at the J&J market on Browns Bridge road when an elderly man in an earlier model Toyota asked me in a teary voice if I could spare a few dollars of gasoline. Then I remembered the reGIFT. We talked for moment and Mr. Smith told me about his situation. Jeff has been homeless now for a while and has been sleeping in the car for a month. I looked at his gas gauge and it read near empty. So I gave him the reGIFT cash and one of the revolution cards and told him about he church. He was very appreciative and thanked me and said that he needed to get to the gas station. I understood. I have lived in my car for several years now due to financial difficulties.

While I am currently unemployed, I do find constructive and positive activities to occupy my time. I enjoy singing gospel songs in the parks. From time to time faithful listener will give a gift appreciation and love and it certainly helps me make a meager living as I wait for a call from my future employer. It seems that there are many people in need here in our community. I’ll keep the love of my Savior and a positive mindset always.

I left my 4 quarters in a coke machine so that the next person to buy a drink would be surprised to find their drink paid for when they collect their change out of the change returner.!!

……..i stood at a gas station until i saw someone who i believed (according to the spirit) needed the extra gas money. I told them it was a non-refuseable gift from REVOLUTION CHURCH!!!! PS. i love all of you, this is my home.

I was on the way to my mom’s house so we could be ready to leave to go to Columbus tomorrow. On the way there I stopped at Ingles to pick some stuff up. While there I stopped at the gas pump and gave my money to the attendant to put on the pump where I just saw a lady park. I didn’t stick around to see her reaction. I hope that it was a blessing for her. I hopefully the money she was going to spend can be spent on something for her family for Christmas.

We thought, discussed, and prayed for a few days on what to do…and what stood out to us was the Parable of the Talents. So, what we focused on was, “how could make our seed from Revolution multiply?” Next, to whom would we give OUR gift. Here is what we did…
We decided the way to multiply the seed money ($10) from Revolution was to buy a gift and raffle it off. We bought an iTunes gift card and our family members bought a ticket. We turned our $10 into $54. Next, who should receive the gift. We decided that we would stay close to home for this–in more ways than one. We chose a small charity that is right next door to the Georgia Mountains Center, Children’s Center for Hope and Healing, http://www.hopeandhealingga.org/ If you are not familiar with them…
The Children’s Center for Hope & Healing (formerly the Family %:3)Relations Program) is dedicated to stopping the cycle of child sexual abuse and to preventing the exploitation of children. So, we chose a place close to home AND more importantly we chose to Bless an organization that dedicates itself to a cause that our family has been unfortunately touched by…
It must have been a special time for her this Christmas…she was Baptized yesterday (Christmas Eve) and she won the raffle today (Christmas Day).
“Blessed are the poor in Spirit, for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to them.”
(Matthew 5:3) God has a way of driving the message HOME!
    It gets better…..
We decided to make this (reGIFT the City) an annual event that our family will do every year.

We weren’t able to attend the service due to sick kids, but we decided to do the reGift on our own. We had to make a trip to Athens to deliver kittens and stopped to eat at the Grill before heading home. Standing on the corner in the cold rain was an older gentlemen playing the flute for money. No one was around. We ordered him a cheese burger gave it to him while it was still nice and warm. Didn’t have the cash to give him, but the smile was well worth it. Wished him a Merry Christmas and God Bless you..

All week I had been thinking of a creative way to bless someone with a dollar. I had a few ideas, but none of them seemed like the right thing to do. I thought of tips, coffees, lunches, and other things. It was Christmas and I still had my envelope. Driving to my cousin’s house in Atlanta, my step-dad and mom began to look for $.50 for the toll. I handed them the dollar and said pay for the person’s toll behind us. We payed for the toll of the person behind us on the way home, also. I don’t know what reaction of the person behind us had, but the impact it had on my step-dad let me know that it was what God had intended to do with the money. Just a dollar can brighten someone’s day or change someone’s heart.

My husband and myself put our money together to bless a couple at a restaurant. My son, who is 3, and I had went to eat and the couple sitting next to us took a particular interest in my little guy. We made small talk throughout the meal and before the server brought my check, I asked her to put the couples check with mine. We paid for their meals without them even knowing it. :)

For the past 3 years we have been praying for the brother of a close family friend. He has been battling cancer and this Christmas season the Good Lord stopped his suffering, by calling him home.

He was survived by a teen age son. Tomorrow we will be attending the funeral to help take up the burdens of this family. We decided to add to the reGift amount we received and we bought a bible for this young man. We plan on presenting him with this bible and let him know about the love of Christ that is always available to him in God’s word.

Humbled to be able to use this reGift this way.

I’m a little late, but I didn’t bury my money ;) . I went to Wal-Mart tonight and like always, I pretended to be a cashier and checked my self out. I felt the Spirit tell me that I should leave my money in the cash return slot. I wrote on the $5 bill “Merry Christmas, Jesus loves you!!” I was going to go tell the attendant that the money can stay, but as I was about to talk to her, a couple that looked like they could really use it walked up.
    God bless

I was driving home from church when I saw 2 fellows walking on the side of the road with tents and bags, which gave me the impression they may be living in those tents.
My original plan was to take these little heat up packets I had bought from Home Depot to the folks under the bridge and I was going to give your re-gift money to a co worker in need, but as I saw these guys on the road side, I decided to turn around and speak to them and pass these gifts to them instead. They were in fact homeless traveling from a different state due to lack of work opportunities. I was grateful to be able to bless them and let them know of some places to receive help and food if they came back from the mountains to stay in the city of Gainesville. They seemed very appreciative.
